We put play on the curriculum!

24/5/2024

Everyone talks about the importance of play in Early Childhood Education and child development. Yet no one talks about the importance of play after the child has stepped into the classroom to begin schooling - all of a sudden, play becomes a "break from learning" or appears as teaching under the guise of "play-based learning" with an adult-led agenda.

We have written in time for self-initiated and process-based play where children can continue to develop essential and transferable skills that play that play offers;

  • Problem-solving and lengthy attention spans
  • Self-confidence and motivation
  • Self-direction and creativity
  • Social skills and imagination
  • Physical agility and spatial awareness
  • Risk management and working within one's own capabilities

We know what natural stages of play look like for older children and how to set up the physical and emotional environment to facilitate play for players of all ages to reach authentic learning states through play.
